Curfew relaxed in Ballia
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

BALLIA (UP), FEBRUARY 15: People of this trouble-torn town flocked streets to purchase essential commodities during the relaxation in the curfew for four hours this morning as law and order situation in the district continued to improve.

No untoward incident was reported from any where in the district since Monday, Inspector General of Police, Varanasi, Harbhajan singh, said here on Tuesday.

The curfew was relaxed in the town for four hours in the morning in phased manner, he said, adding the situation continued to show signs of improvement.

The curfew was imposed on the town on Saturday last when rampaging students torched several police out-posts, damaged government vehicles and ransacked a railway station following alleged killing of a student leader, Naveen Pandy, by a police official.
