RS seat -- 6 file nominations from Bengal

CALCUTTA, MARCH 14: Altogether six candidates including three CPM nominees, filed their nominations for the ensuing election to five seats in the Rajya Sabha from West Bengal.

N Khan, secretary of the state assembly and returning officer for the RS poll told newsmen on Tuesday that apart from three CPM candidates, Revolutionary Socialist Party and Congress fielded one candidate each. An Independent candidate also filed nomination for the coming election.

The three CPI-M Candidates re-nominated by the partywere, Biplab Dasgupta, Nilotpal Basu and Dipankar Mukherjee. The RSP nominee was Manoj Bhattacharya.

Congress fielded D.P.Roy, a former Rajya Sabha member.Trinamool Congress spokesman Jayanta Bhattacharya filed nomination as an independent.

The election is scheduled to take place on March 29.
