Former CJ Chandrachud's wife's chain snatched
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

PUNE, MARCH 15: Apparently chain-snatchers show no discrimination in their choice of victims. Chitra Chandrachud (54), the wife of former Chief Justice of India Y V Chandrachud, was relieved of her gold chain in downtown Shukrawar Peth area on Tuesday.

Inspector in-charge of Khadak police station Vasant Pawar said Chitra was walking down a lane near her residence in Subhashnagar around 2 pm when the incident took place.

Responding to her cries for help, some passersby tried to nab the youth. However, he managed to make his escape through a bylane, said Inspector Pawar.

Later, Chitra went to the nearby Phadgate police chowkey and lodged her First Information Report (FIR), providing description of the youth. A massive hunt was launched to track down the chain-snatcher after the FIR was lodged. But no arrests have been made so far.
