Four editors held for publishing articles
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

MUMBAI, MARCH 18: Four editors involved in publishing obscene articles in their magazines were arrested by the police on Friday evening.

According to the police, the editors were arrested under Section 292 of IPC and 494 copies of the magazines containing incriminating articles were confiscated in separate raids in the city.

The editors of the two Marathi magazines Alingan and Pranay Sparsh have been identified as Babu Bhandari and Anil Shirsagar. Vinod Dalvi and Anil Kumar Dubey are editors of Fantasy Experience and Chapsi, both Hindi publications.

The police have charged the editors of publishing obscene articles, which they fear could have bad influences on youth. Moreover, the materials could also lead to attacks on women and give rise to eve-teasing.

The police have confirmed that the four magazines have been banned and raids are being conducted to confiscate them from the book stalls, said the police.
