De-addiction clinic set up in Thane
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

MUMBAI, MARCH 18: To help various kinds of addicts break their habit, a de-addiction centre has been started in Thane. Also a pain-management clinic, various types of ailments are treated here with a special kind of equipment and expertise.

Explaining the concept, Dr Atul Patil, who has been trained in this area, said that patients are often keen on giving up their addiction to tobacco, alcohol or gutka. But they require counselling to give up the habit, he said and added that for this purpose, a self-development programme has been prepared and support groups formed. The programme lasts for about a week and the results help the patient improve the quality of his life, he said.

Dr Patil said that at the pain management centre, chronic pains like knee joint pain, backache and tennis elbow are treated with electro-therapeutic point stimulation. As these chronic pains often create stress, the clinic encourages patients to make small changes in their lifestyles to counter it.

Those interested may contact Dr Patil at 5415850 or 911-325970.
