Rs 2 lakh demanded as relief for RFO
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

NAGPUR, MARCH 18: The Maharashtra State Forest Guards and Promoted Foresters' Union demanded a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the range forest officer (RFO) of Sawargaon, N W Burade, whose house was blown up by Naxalites of the Peoples War Group (PWG) recently.

Fortunately, Burade and his family members were out of station during the incident and escaped the attack. A group of PWG members allegedly blew up his house and set his motorcycle afire, which was parked outside the residence.

The union sent a team led by its president Ajay Patil, to the spot to assess the situation and found that Burade family suffered an estimated damage of Rs 2 lakh, excluding the Government house.

Patil sought an appropriate protection to the forest personnel who have been working in the Naxal-infested areas in Chandrapur and Gadchiroli districts.
