VHP to start `single teacher' school in tribal villages
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

HYDERABAD, MARCH 18: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has proposed to start `single teacher' schools in nearly 4,000 tribal villages across the country, according to international secretary general of VHP, Dr Praveen Bhai Thogadia.

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Thogadia said VHP had already established `single school' teachers in 2,200 villages and was imparting education free of cost to the tribals.

He alleged that Christian missionaries in name of rendering social services were resorting to conversions of tribal Hindus and asserted that VHP would not allow it to continue.

Thogadia said VHP would enlist support of local educated youth in tribal areas and also try to raise funds from people in urban areas in order to meet the expenditure being incurred for imparting education to the tribals in remote and far flung areas through `single teacher' schools.

He also accused Vatican City of its plans to convert Asia into Christianity as `revealed' in the 66-page document `Eclesia in Asia' reportedly released by Pope John Paul II at Catholic Bishops' conference in New Delhi during his visit to India.

Quoting Article 25 of the Constitution, he said that right to propagation did not mean right to conversion as allegedly resorted to by Christian missionaries ``with the support of foreign countries.''
