Outfit owns responsibility for Nanded theatre blast

NANDED, MARCH 31: A self-styled militant outfit `Indian Muslim Muhammed Mujahidin' has owned responsibility for the pipe bomb blast in Sharada talkies in the town last month, that left four persons seriously injured.

V V Lakshminarayana, district police chief, told PTI on Friday the bomb of low intensity but with an improvised mechanism, had exploded on February 19 at the theatre that showed semi-pornographic films.

He said Azamghori, head of the outfit in a letter to the editor of an English daily published from Hyderabad, owned the responsiblity and said that his outfit, with 36 militants, have masterminded the blasts in Lambe theatre in Secunderabad and in Metpalli of Karimnagar district and in Medchal - in Andhra Pradesh.

Lakshminarayana said the police was trying to identify the locals who might have helped the outfit in planting the bomb and also its manufacturers.
