Naren, Rohitaaz claim titles
MARCH 31: VR Naren Kumar and Rohitaaz Kumar, both from the MRF team, won the coveted Castrol Championships for cars and motorcycles, respectively. It was a clean sweep for the MRF team who swept away most of the titles in both the two-wheeler as well as four-wheeler events, with their drivers, riders and navigators bagging top honours in the overall category as well as in Group `A' and Group `N'. The Coimbatore Auto Sports Club, for both, the two-wheeler as well as the four-wheeler categories, won the best Organizing Club Trophy. RESULTS Riders Overall: 1 Rohitazz Kumar (MRF) 95.00; 2 K Prasad (MRF); 3 Nipender Jassy. Group C: 1 Rohitazz Kumar (MRF) 47.50; 2 K Prasad (MRF); 3 Nipender Jassy. Group D: G Prasad 49.75; 2 R Srinivas; 3 SP Chinnappa. Novices Riders: 1 Mohan Rego 39; 2 K Amith Kumar; 3 Kilan Ganapathy. Novices Drivers Group N: 1 PG Abilash, C Rajaram 30; 2 NK Ramesh, Sherin Balachandran; 3 Umakanth Alva, Sunil K Shetty. Bernard nets winner Other results: Indian Oil 0 drew with Mumbai Customs 0; Central Railway Mumbai Division 4 (Francis Fernandes, Abito Pires, Vidyadharan Nair, Madan Lal) bt Bombay Referees Association 0. Pawar stuns Mohite Pawar, representing The Leela and seeded third, seemed to have shed his advanced years when he stepped onto the glass back court as he beat Bombay Gymkhana's Mohite in straight games of 15-8, 15-9, 15-11.
