Farooq
Abdullah to hold talks for autonomy
Dear
Sir,
Indian Express article 'J-K to hold talks with Centre on autonomy issue:
Adbullah' is worth considering. This will be the right solution to the
Kashmir problem for which, even the US says has no solution. The result
will be that the world opinion will turn in favor of India, as well
as people of Azad Kashmir area held by Pakistan will like to have real
autonomy in their part of Kashmir as well.
This will put burden on Pakistan to prove its support for Kashmiri claim,
unless they free their part of Kashmir too. This will ultimately pave
the way for uniting both parts of Kashmir after division of 50 years
and I am confident not only US but the entire world will favor this
situation and support it.
India will be spared of its Rs 50 Crore per day expenditure on the problem
and will have one front less to protect. India should not forget, that
we sang 'Hindi Chini Bhai Bhai' in the fifties, till China stabbed us
in the back in 1962 war. India is trying to mend fences with China,
whereas, China has not dropped its claim on Arunachal area.
This is the right time when BJP-led government is in power in New Delhi,
they should discuss the autonomy proposal with the chief minister Mr.
Farooq Abdullah, and accept it as early as possible. I am confident,
Congress will not object to it, as the terms of 'accesion' of the state
were virtually written and accepted by Congress government of the time,
headed by none other than Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
Kindly see if you could publish now my letter of January 19 for creating
broader public opinion on this subject.
