Seven killed in Nanded mishap

NANDED, MAY 16: Seven persons were killed and 28 injured when a speeding truck hit a stationary truck carrying a marriage party at Savargaon village in Bhokar tehsil in the district on Monday, police said.

The truck carrying the marriage party, hailing from Bamani village, was going to Mandli village and had halted on the outskirts of Savargaon when it was hit from behind by an onion-laden truck, police said here on Tuesday.

Six persons belonging to the marriage party and the driver of the onion-laden truck, died on the spot. The condition of 12 of the injured, admitted to the Government Hospital here, was stated to be serious, police said.

In another mishap in Jalgaon, three persons were killed and four seriously injured when a speeding truck dashed against a tractor on Chopda-Shirpur Road on Monday.

Police said the tractor was coming to Chopda from Shirpur when it collided with the truck coming from the opposite direction. The injured were admitted to the civil hospital here.
