Six hurt in Midnapore clash

MIDNAPORE, MAY 31: Six people have been injured in a clash between Trinamool Congress supporters and CPI(M) sympathisers at Uttarbil village in Midnapore district, police said today.

The two groups clashed on Tuesday when CPI(M) activists chased Trinamool supporters who were guarding their areas. In an exchange of fire between the two groups, five Trinamool supporters and a CPI(M) supporter received bullet injuries, the police said.

The injured were admitted to Midnapore Sadar Hospital.

Fresh violence has been reported from Garbeta police station area since the wee hours today.
