Attack on Bhujbal's residence -- 36 persons discharged

MUMBAI, JUNE 19: Delivering order today, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Holambe Patil, today stayed trial proceedings against the remaining 22 persons involved in the case till completion of investigation and filing of report by the police under Section 173 (B).

The magistrate further ordered police to intimate the court if it failed to collect evidences against the remaining 22 persons involved in the case.

A complaint was registered against 58 persons who allegely vandalised the residence of then leader of opposition on July 13, 1997.

The mob had allegedly pelted stones and ransacked the house, besides stealing show-pieces worth Rs 10,000. A policeman was also allegedly injured in the incident.

According to the chargesheet filed by police, the mob had prevented the police personnel from performing their duty and had trespassed Bhujbal's then residence located opposite Mantralaya.
