7-day banking from Syndicate Bank

MUMBAI, JUNE 27: Syndicate Bank has kicked off seven-day banking in 16 of its branches in Mumbai. These branches are: Bhandup, Bhiwandi, Dahisar, Dombivili, Kalyan, Kandivili, Lamimgton Road, Mahim, Malabar Hill, Malad (E), Malad (W), Matunga Bazar, Prabhadevi, Tardeo, Thane main and Ulhasnagar.

This is in addition to the following 16 branches in which seven day banking facility already exists. ``The introduction of seven day banking spread over all the suburban areas will go a long way in meeting the expectation of its esteemed customers,'' it said. Syndicate Bank, the first nationalised bank to launch an "at par" public issue in the history of the capital market, had its first AGM of shareholders at Manipal.

Presiding over the AGM, chairman and managing director D T Pai observed that the capital adequacy ratio of the bank stood at 11.45 per cent as on March 2000 against the RBI bench mark of 9 per cent. The business surpassed Rs 36,000 crore achieving a growth rate of 21.8 per cent. The non-performing assets came down to 3.17 per cent and net profit rose to Rs 215.65 crore.
