PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

DUBAI, JUNE 28: An Indian expatriate has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by a Dubai criminal court for consuming alcohol and killing a colleague.

The 31-year-old Indian national, identified only as B B R, had been convicted of hammering to death his colleague Kasha Janjaram at the company worksite in October 1999, Khaleej Times reported.

In the incident, the accused, who was drunk, had asked the victim to help him steal some equipment from the site. But when the victim persistently refused, the accused got enraged, grabbed a chair and started hammering him. The victim suffered skull injuries and died due to excessive bleeding, the newspaper said.
