DSP turns a boor, beats up villager
JAIPUR, JUNE 30: An inquiry has been ordered against the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) who gave a lesson in lawlessness to a villager on Tuesday. DSP Vidhyadhar Singh, in-charge of Chomu (25 kms away from Jaipur) circle, beat Ratan Lal Saini, a resident of Mahar Kalan village, for not giving way to his jeep at a crossing in Chomu on Tuesday night. Saini, who underwent treatment for fractures at Sawai Man Singh Hospital here on June 28, met the DIG of Police Ajeet Singh Shekhawat on Thursday along with Bhagwan Sahai Saini, Congress MLA from Chomu, and over 50 people from his village. Shekhawat told The Indian Express here on Friday that he has ordered an inquiry by Additional Superintendent of Police (headquarters) Vijayendra Jhala into the incident. According to Saini while returning home after leaving an ailing relation at Sawai Man Singh Hospital, he had to stop his jeep at a T-crossing due to a traffic jam. DSP Singh also happened to reach there in his jeep. When his driver starting blowing the horn seeking passage, Saini said, he found it impossible to oblige since there was no space. The angry DSP pulled him out of his seat and punched him. Later, he beat him with a cane. Saini was driven home by his nephew Radheshyam. Saini was given first-aid in a hospital in Samod the next morning and was advised by the doctor to go to SMS Hospital in Jaipur to treat his fractured collar-bone and right wrist. On Wednesday, the villagers and local Congress MLA took Saini to Chomu police station to get a case registered. Saini said action was taken only after the MLA complained to the DIG the Chomu police station on Wednesday to lodge a case against the DSP. Copyright © 2000 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
