Major train mishap averted near Jabalpur
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

JABALPUR, JULY 4: A major train mishap was averted last night due to an alert chowkidar who detected a fracture a few minutes before a passanger train was to pass near Bheraghat station, about 15 kms from here on the Jabalpur-Itarsi section of Central Railway. A railway spokesman said the railway chokidar detected the rail fracture just a few minutes before the Vindhyachal Express was to pass on the damaged track.

The spokesman immediately informed the station master and the train was diverted through another track, the spokesman added.

Additional divisional railway manager Alok Dave said he did not suspect any foulplay and added that such fractures develop due to pressure of rail traffic.
