Bangladesh Army to let women fight alongside men -- spokesman
DHAKA, JULY 6: Women will be permitted to fight alongside men in Bangladesh's army within the next two years, a defence ministry spokesman said. Currently, women are only allowed to serve as doctors and nurses. ``The women will be recruited for the 47th Long Course of the Bangladesh Military Academy for a two-year training,'' the spokesman said, adding that the air force and the navy had started similar processes. Last month, predominatly Muslim Bangladesh, after being elevated to the exclusive Test cricket club, announced it would also have a women's cricket team.
