Wimbledon, July 10: Venus and Serena Williams, quite expectedly, had the last word at Wimbledon this year, when they beat the French-Japanese combination of Julie-Halard Decugis and Ai Sugiyama 6-3, 6-2 to win the women's doubles title this afternoon in little over an hour.

This was the third Grand Slam title for the sisters, who took last year's French Open and US Open doubles crowns too. Venus also repeated Lindsay Davenport’s double of last year. Davenport had lifted the singles and thenteamed with partner Corina Morariu to take the doubles too.

Interestingly, the sisters needed a wild card to enter the main draw as they are not ranked as they do not play together generally. Venus had said after her singles win here that she hoped they would be ranked if they won the crown here.

In the mixed doubles final yesterday, the teenage duo of Aussie Lleyton Hewitt and Belgian girlfriend Kim Clijsters could not get past the experienced Americans Don Johnson and Kimberley Po. Johnson and Po won 6-4, 7-6(3) for their first Grand Slam title together. After the match, an exuberant Johnson lifted Po off the ground and carried her to the net.
