Corporator murdered in Bhayander
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

MUMBAI, JULY 14: Nationalist Congress Party corporator Dileep Babar was hacked to death outside his residence at Bhayandar (E) on Friday morning. While Babar died on the spot, his associate, Rajaram Maurya alias Ram, was seriously injured in the attack. He has been admitted to Bhagwati Hospital at Borivali.

Police said Babar got a phone call at his residence at Jesal Park around 9.15 am and asking him to meet someone. He was attacked by six unidentified assailants when he came out of his house fifteen minutes later.

Babar was stabbed 37 times with `guptis' (long knife) on the head, chest, stomach and neck. The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. Shop and business establishments remained closed in protest and no arrests have been made so far.
