NRI returns home to give Nagpur Rs 20-cr township NAGPUR, JULY 15: An NRI is funding a Rs 20-crore Information Technology (IT) township at MIDC Butibori here. Dilip Sontakey, who is also the founder-director of Premier Technology Group (PTG) Pvt Ltd in Nagpur and the vice-president of its parent company, E-Z Data Inc, California, said at a press conference on Friday that the township will be able to accommodate a 500-strong workforce. This will bring Nagpur on the international IT map. Sontakey established the PTG in 1998 as a 100 per cent software export-oriented unit (EOU) registered with the Software Technology Park of India (STPI). He said the PTG has planned a development centre near Nagpur. The project is likely to be completed in 18 months. The project will focus on developing software, including Web projects, Java, ASP, ActiveX, e-commerce, Windows, leading database, IBM UDB, Oracle, Sybase, MS, SQL server and mobile computing etc, said Sontakey. A 25-30 acre plot is being acquired by the company at MIDC Butibori. Sontakey, who hails from Nagpur, praised the existing infrastructure and five-star facilities available at Butibori. PTG has a state-of-the-art infrastructure to support the expansion work at Nagpur, he said. Sontakey said the IT township will generate employment for young professionals and local talent will be preferred. Exports in software will get foreign exchange, secondary and ancillary business will get a boost, he said. Jayant Kawle, chairman of MIDC, said the township will change the face of Vidarbha region and assured all possible help to the company. The township will have market centres, swimming pools, hotels and all major facilities, he said. According to Sontakey, the PTG has ventured into West Asian countries where several multi-million dollar projects are being negotiated. PTG is outsourcing business from the existing E-Z Data clients in the US and wishes to build up the market share in turn-key projects and consultancy, he said. Kawle said the project will prove to be an anchor unit in the Information Technology sector for the region. Nitin Gujarathi, chief operating officer of PTG, Mangesh Khadilkar, director, and officials of MIDC, STPI, MSEB, Customs and Central Excise, besides engineering graduates were present on the occasion.
