GoM to sort out DTS employees' issues by August 15
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

NEW DELHI, JULY 21: The group of ministers (GoM) on corporatisation of Department of Telecom Services today said all major issues concerning employees, including pension and future status would be sorted out by August 15.

The group headed by Communications Minister Ram Vilaspaswan which met here for the first time, decided to take up issues which need concurrence of various ministries and sort it out to the satisfaction of all parties.

"Some of the issues are pending with the ministry of finance, while others with the labour ministry... Now all these will be brought before the GoM and solved," Paswan told reporters after the meeting.

He said it would require a series of meetings of GoM and the second meeting would likely to be next week. Such a move has been necessitated as the government had already committed coporatisation of DTS by October 1 and the employee status of over five lakh personnel has to be settled for a smooth transition.

"We are in the transition period ... Next three months would be crucial as employment status of five lakh employees would be changed from government to corporate," Paswan said, adding, "all these issues needed to be discussed and decided before a final decision."
