Kapil Dev is declared out from textbooks
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

NEW DELHI, JULY 23: With last week's raid on cricketers, the Gujarat government is sure that at least one hero has fallen from grace. The government today decided to remove a chapter on former Indian captain Kapil Dev from the Class X curriculum following allegations against him in the match-fixing scandal.

Gujarat Education Minister Anandiben Patel said the government has decided to delete the chapter on Kapil Dev after the recent raids by Income-Tax officials on his office and residential premises.

``The issue had been under consideration of the State Government ever since the match-fixing controversy broke out and the I-T raids clinched our decision,'' she said.
