Cuckoo brings traffic to a halt in Pune
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

PUNE, AUG 11: Traffic on busy Somwarpeth area here came to a halt after fire brigade personnel got engaged in an operation to rescue a cuckoo, that got entangled in a kite thread atop a peepal tree today.

Fire brigade sources said that a snorkel was rushed to the area to reach the tree-top and the traffic was stopped for nearly 15 minutes to save the bird.

Three fire brigade personnel, including Sheikh Ismail, fireman Bhangare and Prithviraj Harihar climbed the platform of the snorkel and reached 150 feet high, where the bird was struggling to get free.

The kite string which had entangled in the legs of the cuckoo had panicked the little bird, that was later brought down safely.

The bird would be sent to Katraj garden, the sources added.
