HONG KONG: A Boeing 747 cargo plane aborted its landing at Hong Kong's international airport after a plane was spotted preparing to take off from the same runway, a spokeswoman said on Thursday. The Civil Aviation Department (CAD) spokeswoman said there had been a "missed approach" incident at Chek Lap Kok airport on Sunday involving a Boeing 747 aircraft. The 747 pilot was forced to circle the airport before landing on another runway, she added. Her remarks followed a newspaper report that the pilot of a Cathay Pacific cargo plane, returning to Hong Kong from Taipei, aborted its descent after seeing a Frankfurt-bound Lufthansa jet prepare for takeoff. She said that safety was not compromised in the incident, classified as a "missed approach."

Studio of Backstreet Boys fame to close down

STOCKHOLM: Sweden's Cheiron Studio, where artists including Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys recorded, is to close, Radio Stockholm reported on Wednesday.

"Cheiron is being shut down for emotional reasons, partly because of the death of Denniz PoP two years ago," studio co-owner Tom Talomaa told the radio station. PoP (35) owned the Cheiron label until his death from cancer. It was PoP who brought Max Martin (29), one of Sweden's brightest record producers, into Cheiron.
