Priyanka is in labour, 10 Janpath in waiting

NEW DELHI, AUGUST 24: Tonight, 10 Janpath is at Room 219 of the capital's Gangaram Hospital waiting for the youngest member of the Gandhi family.

Sources told The Indian Express that Priyanka Vadra was admitted on Tuesday night with labour pains and the delivery is expected any time. Earlier, it had been reported that the baby was due in the first week of September. But sources said that once Priyanka entered labour, her mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi called off her scheduled trip to the US.

Sonia visited her daughter both yesterday and today. Husband Robert Vadra is with her.

Her room has been turned into a ward for the time being with at least one gynaecologist and two nurses on duty round the clock. At least four personnel of the Special Protection Group, in plainclothes, are on vigil outside her room.
