Route survey carried rally

AUG 29: The organisers of the HP Great Himalayan Motor Race -- Vidarbha Automotive Racing Association -- along with the Indian Army's Adventure Wing carried the route survey of the race the other day.

A team of communication and medical officers also accompanied the party, which travelled from Leh (10,000 ft), North Pollu (15,300 ft) to Khardung-la (18380 ft). The Army Police has identified the shortcuts and have started to seal them off.

The serious competitors would find the 60 km route from Leh to Khardung-la truly exciting but the organisers have advised the entrants, whose machines do not conform to the safety standards, to desist from participating.
