Allahabad HC sets aside recent UP govt order
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

ALLAHABAD, SEPT 10: The Allahabad High Court has set aside a recent order of the Uttar Pradesh government by which the authority to issue a fitness certificate for slaughtering of an animal was taken away from veterinary doctors and given to the local bodies.

The High Court order was given by a division bench comprising Chief Justice S K Sen and Justice G P Mathur on a petition filed by by M D Hanif, a resident of Jyotibaphule Nagar district.

While allowing the writ petition, the court observed that the statutory provision cannot be overturned by a government order.

The state government had withdrawn the power of veterinary doctors to issue fitness certificate for slaughter of an animal on April 1.
