Cleam Sweep in `A' Ward
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

MUMBAI, SEPTEMBER 18: More than 250 students from SNDT College, Churchgate, volunteers of the Association of Youth for a Better India and other non-governmental organisations have fixed October 1 as their deadline to get every household in `A' Ward to segregate garbage into wet and dry components.

Armed with a letter from Ward Officer Kiran Achrekar, authorising them to go house-to-house, the volunteers have advised each household to keep two bins to separate the two types of garbage.

Dubbing the campaign as Operation Clean-Sweep, which was launched on August 15, they have been educating residents in the locality on the merits of segregating garbage. Various citizens' associations have been working in tandem with the Clean Mumbai Foundation.
