TMC rebels back Pondy Govt
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

PONDICHERRY, SEPT 21: The three-member TMC (Rathinam alias Manohar) group, formed on Wednesday after breaking away from the TMC, today pledged support to the coalition government headed by P Shanmugam.

The leader of the group, S Manohar, and the other two MLAs K Rajasekhara Odayar (Deputy speaker) and A Elumalai met Shanmugam here to voice their support.

After the three member group decided to break away fromthe parent party, The TMC was plunged into further crisis when Pwd Minister P Kannan resigned from the party's Pondicherry unit presidentship. Kannan had already made it clear yesterday itself that he was still a TMC member.

Speaking to reporters after meeting the breakaway group,Shanmugam hit out at the DMK for its reported statement that there was no political stability in Pondicherry and that the Congress-TMC government could not take any policy decision.

'When there is support to the government, how can the DMKmake such a statement,' he asked.
