Rajkumar's family to go on hunger strike

BANGALORE, SEPT 21: Upset over the hostage drama getting prolonged, Kannada thespian Rajkumar's actor son Shivarajkumar on Thursday said the family would go on a fast for the release of his father from the captivity of forest brigand Veerappan.

"We (referring to family) will observe hunger strike. We will give up food," he told reporters amid a procession by the Kannada film industry to pressure the Government to make more efforts for Rajkumar's release. He did not, however, specify from when the fast would be observed.

Shivarajkumar said their family had been passing through a traumatic experience and "we do not know how to express our agony".

Echoing his brother's sentiments, Raghavendra Rajkumar said "we want our father back".

Asked if he was satisfied with the steps taken by the Government, Shivarajkumar evaded the question and said they wanted the release of Rajkumar.
