Dussehra celebrated with fervour

NEW DELHI, OCT 7: Dussehra, symbolising the victory of good over evil, was today celebrated in several parts of the country with religious fervor and enthusiam.

Effigies of demon king Ravana, his son Meghnath and Brother kumbhkarana went up in flames in several places at sunset bringing the curtains down on the ten day festival, celebrated as Vijay Dashami.

In the capital, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and leader of Opposition Sonia Gandhi joined the people in celebrating Dussehra. The dignitaries cheered and clapped along with thepeople as the effigies of the three demons went up in flames amidst fireworks.
