TN monsoon session begins today
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

CHENNAI, NOV 5: The monsoon session of the Tamil Nadu Assembly starting tomorrow is likely be stormy, with the main opposition party TMC deciding to launch a scathing attack on the DMK government in the state on several counts.

On the first day, the House will adjourn without transacting any business after condoling the death of Union Power Minister P R Kumaramangalam, Tamil Nadu Revenue Minister R Manoharan, MGR ADMK MLA C Anbarasan and the All India Forward Bloc MLA P N Vallarasu.

The session would also discuss the state electricity board budget and pass bills replacing seven ordinances.

The special court verdict convicting former chief minister Jayalalitha on the TANSI land deal case, the violence that erupted at Madurai after DMK general secretary K Anbazhagan's order to DMK men not to join hands with Chief Minister Karunanidhi's son Azhagiri and the recent hike in prices of petroleum products are likely to be debated in the House, which could lead to a lot of controversies.

The TMC had announced on Saturday that it would be a constructive and aggressive opposition in the House.
