Obsession -- Sharon Prabhakar (singer/actress)

For me, my work is the elixir of life! When I’m on stage... the light, the sound, the expectancy from the audience is so synergised it’s almost palpable... that’s the moment that makes everything else in my life become pale in comparison. So I guess, this is what was meant to be: I was born to be a performer. And the amazing thing is that all the detailing, the myriad nuances, the run-up process everything that goes into perfecting a role are so varied every time, that it never gives me a feeling of enough-is-enough, been there, tried it all, I’m out! I’ve had so many people come to me, who felt that when I was doing shows of Evita, I’d actually begun looking like her. Or that, when I’m performing to an audience during my pop concerts, I seem completely tireless. They ask how I can dance, sing, perform, emote and do it all so effortlessly. Get tired? That’s the last thing on my mind.

I’m told the secret of life is to be able to prioritise and focus. And for me, to be able to do this and draw so much more out of it, is something that I realise, appreciate and cherish every single day. God has blessed me with an amazing gift. One that provides a goal, a path and meaning to my life: the passion of music, of song, of emotion, of being able to reach out to audiences all over the world through this marvellous medium. Who could ask for everything more! Life is all about being in the pilot seat... believe me, that’s where I am right now!”
