Ceasefire monitor Day 21 -- 2 killed, NC leader's house attacked

SRINAGAR, DEC 18: The 21st day of the ceasefire saw the death of a High Court advocate and a former militant today.

Abdul Gani Bhat, a resident of Bijbehara was shot by unidentified gunmen at 9.30 am. He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

In another incident, a former militant was killed and a policeman injured today when a mine exploded in the Higher Secondary School at Kupwara today. The injured policeman has been shifted to hospital, where his condition is stated to be stable.

Militants today also attached the residence of National Conference blockpresident Muhammad Ashraf Ganai at Sopore in Baramulla. They fired at the house but beat a hasty retreat when the security guards retaliated.
