Law and order in WB better than most states -- Buddha

CALCUTTA, DEC 25: West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today claimed that the law and order situation in the state was better compared to other states.

Inaugurating the newly built Kasba police stationbuilding, here Bhattacharjee asked the policemen to be always on their toes and not to be complacent as the law and order situation in the state was better than other states.

He called upon the police force to behave properly withthe common people but asked them to deal sternly with the anti-social elements.

State Home secretary S N Roy said 13 new police stations have been opened in the state this year and if necessary more police stations would be opened.

Speaking on the occasion the Director General of Police Dipak Sanyal said police patrolling had been intensified in the state to deal with criminals and more police force would be deployed if the need arises.
