Ramiz, Sarfraz clash at cricket headquarters

JAN 4: Two former Pakistan cricket captains -- Sarfraz Nawaz and Ramiz Raja -- threw discretion to winds and virtualy came to blows at the Gaddafi stadium here.

The incident occured yesterday at a waiting room of the Pakistan Cricket Board's chairman Lt Gen Taquir Zia, when both of them came face to face and started shouting at each other in presence of the staff.

Sarfraz alleged that Ramiz used abusive language and threatned to throw him out of the stadium. The two former test star are involved in a court case which has been filed by Ramiz.

The way the two fomer cricket exchanged abuses it seemed that they were to settle their court battle in the open. Sarfraz claimed that he had gone to the stadium meet Lt Gen Tauqir Zia when Ramiz entered the room.

``On seeing me, Ramiz suddenly lost his cool and without any provocation started shouting and hurling abuses,'' said Sarfaraz.

Ramiz was also very angry with the security guards for allowing Sarfraz inside of the PCB office.

Ramiz, a member of the Pakistan Cricket Board advisory council, has filed Rs. 50 million suit against Sarfraz after the former fast bowler accused him of misappropriation of funds.
