Hawala deals -- Court allows ED to interroate Rizvi
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

MUMBAI, JAN 17: In a fresh development, a special court today allowed Enforcement Directorate (ED) to interrogate Nasim Rizvi, producer of controversial film Chori Chori, Chupke Chupke for two days in regard to his alleged hawala deals.

Rizvi, facing charge of alleged nexus with underworld, was produced amidst tight security before the designated judge A P Bhangale who allowed ED to interrogate him today and tomorrow after public prosecutor Rohini Salian consented.

ED's counsel Arun Gupte sought Rizvi's custody for two days on the ground that sustained interrogations might throw light on his alleged hawala deals.

The judge identified three officers who would take Rizvi to ED office for interrogation and ordered that the accused be produced before him in the evening to inform the court about the progress made during interrogations.

Rizvi was arrested on December 13 last under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) for allegedly developing links with Karachi-based gangster Chota Shakeel through a conduit to target Bollywood personalities for personal gains.

Rizvi has been remanded to custody from time to time by the court. He is now under judicial custody till January 19. His assistant Abdul Rahim Allah Baksh has also been remanded to judicial custody till January 29. Police allege that Abdul Rahim acted as a conduit between Rizvi and Shakeel.

The cops claim to have recorded telephonic conversations between Rizvi, Abdul Rahim and Shakeel which allegedly reveal Bollywood-underworld nexus.
