LONDON, FEB 11: Actress Nicole Kidman said husband Tom Cruise's decision to file for divorce was a "total and devastating shock", a British Sunday newspaper reported.

Kidman's representatives had released a statement on herbehalf, saying Cruise had given her no warning of his plans to divorce, the Mail on Sunday said.

"This divorce was not her decision. Tom made the move.Nicole is in a state of shock," the statement said.

Cruise filed for divorce on Wednesday, two days afterHollywood's golden couple announced they had separated and two months after they renewed their vows on their 10th wedding anniversary.

Rumours of trouble in the marriage have dogged the couplefor years, but Cruise and Kidman have always strenuously denied them as they juggled two adopted children, top movie roles and stage plays around the world.

The Mail quoted an unnamed friend of Kidman's as saying theactress knew there were problems in the marriage, but the divorce move came out of the blue.

"Nicole was completely flabbergasted. She has spent the lastfew days crying. She knew there were problems but she didn'T realise he was about to call it quits," the friend was quoted as saying.

Some U.S. Magazines have speculated that the couple fell outover the depth of Cruise's involvement in the Church of Scientology, while others blamed Kidman's desire to move to Australia, where she grew up.

Cruise's spokeswoman, Pat Kingsley, has denied thatScientology, which Cruise embraced in 1990, had played a part in the split.

The Mail said Kidman's mother and sister had flown toHollywood from Australia to be with her.
