I-T raids continue at Todi's premises
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

KOLKATA, FEB 14L: The Income Tax (I-T) department continued its search and survey operations for the third day today at the residence and official promises of city-based businessman S.K. Todi.

I-T officials said that simultaneous search operations were carried out at all the business locations of Todi group in the country.

``The search started on Monday morning and was still going on at Todi's official premises in the city,'' I-T officials said.

The official claimed that Todi has been on the department's watch-list for the past six months and the search operation was launched once it was established that he might have assets disproportionate to his income.

``This search operation is not linked to any political intereference,'' the official said, but declined to give details of the seizures during the three-day operation.

The officials, however, dismissed rumours that raids were also conducted at the residence of Chandan Basu, son of the former WB chief minister Jyoti Basu.

``I don't think that there was any raids at Chandan Basu's premises. As far as my information goes, not a single team had gone to his premises,'' he said.

The Todi family sources said that search had also been conducted at their relatives' premises in New Delhi.
