Ganguly steers Seniors home
Express News Service

Chennai, February 14: In a tall scoring match, fireworks by skipper Sourav Ganguly, who scored a lively 142 off 106 deliveries, enabled India Seniors to a 30-run win over Robin Singh-led India A in the Challenger series one-day cricket tournament at the MA Chidambaram stadium here on Tuesday.

Seniors rattled an imposing 392 for 6 in 50 overs. India A made a gallant chase with contentious knocks from the blades of Sachin Tendulkar (77, 59b, 14x4), Dinesh Mongia (102, 66b, 4x4), Robin Singh (64, 66b, 4x4) and Mohd Kaif (40, 21b, 3x4, 2x6).

It was a routine day at office for Tendulkar. Such was his magnetic presence that the crowd interest dwindled, the moment he made his exit. Dinesh Mongia, with the confidence of the two Duleep double hundreds behind him, swung the willow effectively.
