The farmers have done their sums
Going back to the village is always a useful experience. We are now in the Deccan plateau. The soil out here is good alluvial stuff, but it is an arid region. The first farmer we talk with has canal irrigation. Madhav Namdev Aher farms six hectares at Loni Khurd.




Card dealers and their winning hand
Our native greeting card players are a match for the world. Not so many years ago it would have been difficult to find greeting cards of any quality or of any variety beyond birthday greetings and those for X-Mas and New Year.
