Transfers of 19 IPS officers
Mumbai, Feb 20: After sanctioning the transfers of 19 IPS officers, the DF government is now rethinking on its decision. Sources in Mantralaya today said the Home department had not issued transfer orders to the police officers except one. Last week, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh had signed the transfer orders of 19 superitendent-level IPS officers including seven deputy commissioners serving in Mumbai. Of them, the order of Dhule SP, R K Sahai, was issued by the office of the Director General of Police. He is tipped to be posted in the vigilance department of the Food and Drug Administration. The rest 18 transfers hang in balance. Sources said the orders were initially delayed due to cancellation of two officers' transfers. They are DCP (Zone IV) T Kanakratnam and DCP (Zone IX) Bipin Bihari. The two officers are unlikely to be shifted out of Mumbai. However, more changes may be made in the list, the sources added. For the time being, all other transfers in the list have been put on hold. Prominent among the officers being transferred are DCP (Zone III) Amitesh Kumar, DCP (Intelligence) A G Kadam, DCP (Railways, Mumbai) Prashant Burde and DCP Rajendra Singh. The imbroglio has also kept several IPS officers, who are resuming after leave or deputation elsewhere, without posting. Of them, three are coming back from UN deputation in Kosovo while DCPs Balbir Bharati and Archana Tyagi are resuming after leave. DCP Rajneesh Seth is returning from deputation in CBI and DCP S N Pande is back fron Central deputation. Copyright © 2001 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
