Cong-sponsored farmers rally today

NEW DELHI, FEB 24: Preparations are in full swing for the farmers rally organised by the Congress here tomorrow to highlight the plight of agricultural community following the "anti-farmer" policies of the NDA Government.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi will address the rally being held at the Ramlila Grounds.

According to senior Congress leader Motilal Vora, at least four lakh farmers from various parts of the country are expected to attend the rally. Majority of the rallyists would come from neighbouring states of Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh besides Delhi.

The rally assumes significance in view of the coming assembly elections in five states.

The Congress had brought an adjournment motion on the plight of the farmers in the Lok Sabha during the Winter session And has already declared that it would again raise the issue in the current Budget session.
