Stiff task ahead of Churchill
Press trust of india

Margao, February 24: A depleted Churchill Brothers will hope to shrug off their string of defeats when they take on defending champions Mohun Bagan tomorrow in what promises to be a high-voltage encounter in the fifth edition of the National Football League match here.

Churchill, who appear a formidable side on paper, have not proved themselves on field, as they have eight points from two wins, two draws and four losses, and are placed seventh. While Bagan, who lost to arch rival East Bengal, are placed fourth with fifteen points from four wins, three draws and one loss.

The major worry for Churchill has been their attack which lacks teeth and the absence of Edson Castro will be felt as he has been slapped with two bookings. With Igor Skhvrin not fully fit, it will be left to Francis Silveira to fetch Churchill vital points.

EB keen to maintain winning streak
Kolkata:
East Bengal will be keen to maintain their winning streak when they clash with a depleted Mahindra United at the Yuba Bharti Krirangan here tomorrow. The local outfit will seek to capitalise on home advantage to gain full points and consolidate their position at the top of the points table in what promises to be a keenly contested affair. With two back to back victories, East Bengal propelled themselves to the top of the table having secured 19 points from eight outings.

ITI hold Vasco
Margao:
Three missed chances by striker Peter Rodrigues denied Vasco full points as they were held to a goalless draw by Indian Telephone Industries (ITI) at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda. Vasco, who dominated the second half had more than half a dozen chances but poor finishing by their upfront let them down, the chief offender was striker Peter Rodrigues who missed most of the chances.
