Minister didn't resign under threat -- Rabri
Patna, March 13: Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi today stoutly denied the allegation of leader of the Opposition, Sushil Kumar Modi, that Shanker Prasad Tekriwal, who resigned on Monday from the ministry, was facing a threat to his life. Replying to the allegation of Modi that Tekriwal had received anonymous threatening phone calls by alleged RJD supporters prior to his resignation, warning him to keep mum or face elimination, the Chief Minister accused the Opposition leader of misleading the house. ``There is no threat to Tekriwal's life....it is all absurd,'' she said. She said the security guards of Tekriwal, who quit the ministry demanding change in the leadership over alleged non-performance of the government, had not been withdrawn and that the government will continue to provide full security to him. She charged Modi with trying to fish in troubled waters by levelling unfounded allegations against the government. It has become a practice for MLAs and ministers leaving RJD to complain about threat to their lives, the Chief Minister said. Copyright © 2001 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
