"We are swiftly working on Prime Minister action plan for the development of Jammu and Kashmir. In this direction, we have formulated Rs 150-crore project for construction of about 4,742 two-room residential sets for Kashmiri migrants in Jammu and Udhampur districts," J-K Roads and Building Minister Gulam Ahmed Mir told PTI here today.

The exercise for the construction of the accommodation for the Kashmiri Pandit migrants was launched following the announcement by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his recent visit to the winter capital city of the state, he said.

Out of the total sets being constructed, 1400 are being constructed in the first phase and the entire exercise will be completed in three phases, he said adding a total of 399 sets are being built at Battal Wallian in Udhampur.

Mir said some sites have also been identified for the purpose in this direction.

The Minister said the existing structures in the camps at Muthi, Mishriwealla, Nagrota, Purkhooo in Jammu and Battal Wallian in Udhampur will be reshaped and converted into two-room sets.

By combining two sets, a two-room flat will be developed for single family. All the existing structures at various migrant camps will be fully utilised, Mir said.
