VISHAV Hindu Parishad (VHP) has demanded from the new Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to facilitate return of the Kashmiri Hindus with respect and dignity.
While briefing mediapersons here today, the state VHP president, Dr Ramakant Dubey, said that the Congress had come to power in the state after 30 years, and now it is high time that the government should work for the return of the Kashmiri Hindus to their homeland sooner than later.
He demanded that the resettlement of the Kashmiri Hindus should be expedited and the Kashmiris Hindus should be given back their properties and lands, which they owned in the Valley before their migration.
He also demanded that the religious places, which had been demolished in the Valley, should be constructed and renovated by the government.
He said that supporting lands of the temple premises, which were occupied by various individuals or by whosoever, should be got vacated by the government and handed over back to the temple people.
He said that the migration of the Kashmiri Hindus was a blot on the Kashmiriat and secular characteristics and the Congress now has an opportunity to wash that blot by quickly facilitating the return of the Kashmiri Hindus.
He said that it was deplorable that the new Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, in a recent statement, spoke about the ‘‘Khushhall Kashmir’’ (Happy Kashmir), and he did not include Jammu and Ladakh.
He said that Ghulam Nabi Azad got more support from Jammu than Kashmir, therefore, he should not have spoken in such a language.
He also stressed that the security should be provided to all the people of the state and the Hindu community should not be ignored.
While referring to the Budhal carnage, Dr Dubey said that the government should pay compensation and jobs to the family members as no male member was left in the family to earn a living for the family.
He also alleged that no proper account has been maintained by the government of the economic packages, which had flown to the J&K by the Central government or other agencies for the last 58 years. He said that now it was time that the government came to consciousness on the matter and brought transparency. He also said that it was true that Uri and Tanghdar were more affected by the recent earthquake, but the government totally ignored the Poonch district, which was also affected immensely. Dr Dubey also urged the government to maintain check on the infiltration of the nationals from Bangladesh, Myanmar and Pakistan.
