Dubai is going to have the taste of Kashmiri Wazwan as department of tourism is all set to hold the Kashmiri Food Festival there from March 25 to 31. Apart from promoting Kashmiri cuisines the festival will also focus on trade and tourism.
Earlier, this festival was scheduled to be held in Pakistan. Even after making all arrangements to hold the festival the state tourism department was denied permission by Pakistan government, sources said.
After this it was decided to hold the Kashmir Food Festival in Dubai during the last week of March. Dubai was selected as major chunk of its population comprises people from India and Pakistan and this will ensure the success of festival, sources said.
The venue to hold this festival is seven star hotel of Dubai called Amurooj Roltana and this hotel is organising any Indian festival for the first time, sources said. Mainly visitors will have the Kashmiri cuisine called Wazwan in their menu during the festival days which will begin on March 25 and will conclude on March 31.
The tourism department does not want to leave any stone unturned to ensure the success of festival and to leave an everlasting impact on the mind of visitors with the taste of delicacies served during the festival. Apart from sending all the required ingredients including traditional spices from Kashmir, four chefs of J-K Tourism Development Corporation are also being specially flown to Dubai for the festival.
‘‘Earlier the festival was scheduled to be held in Pakistan but as the government there delayed in giving clearance to the festival. Later we decided to hold it in Dubai where large number of people from India and Pakistan lives. This festival will gave them an opportunity to savour the taste of Kashmiri Wazwan for long time,’’ said Director General Tourism, Mohammad Saleem Beg.
Director General Tourism said that festival also intends to grab the opportunity to invite visitors to the tourist destinations located here.
