Top Hizb militant arrested in J&K

Jammu, July 20:

A top Hizbul Mujahideen militant was arrested and Rs 6.50 lakh of hawala money recovered from his possession in Ramban district, official sources said on Friday.

On a tip off, security forces intercepted a vehicle on Ramban-Sangaldan road at Gool area of Ramban district late last night and on its search found a bag containing Rs. 6.50 lakh of hawala money.

All the five occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody. While four were let off after questioning, HM militant Arif Ahmed of Sangaldan was arrested.

The sources said Ahmed had brought the consignment from self-styled HM Divisional Commander Abu Humera alias Abu Mastan operating in Awantipura area of Pulwama district.

The consignment was to be delivered to self-styled HM Deputy Divisional Commander Abu Haneef alias Sher Ali, who is operating in Gool-Sangaldan-Mahore areas of Ramban and Reasi districts, they said.

A case has been registered by the police and the investigation is on.
